Playthings are extremely important to keep your fuzzy when outside playing stimulated. Nevertheless, all ferrets are different and certainly will find different things interesting (just like humans). Each ferret has its own individual style and with that come their very own individual likes and dislikes.
So if you’ve got lots of ferrets, then occasionally it can be difficult to cater to each of their needs. The additional time you spend with them and the more you bond, what they would like to play with and the further you’ll know about your ferrets.
Ferrets are great because a lot of the time they’ll create their own homemade ferret toys. For example, they can take a liking to your clothing and tunnel through it or steal it.
Homemade ferret toys come in several shapes and forms but always remember to supervise you fuzzbutts during play. You do not desire them swallowing something that their not supposed to ( it can get stuck in their miniature intestines).
A few cases of games and home made ferret toys are:
Place some sheets or a blanket on the floor – they’ll tunnel through it…too simple!
Place them in a pillow case and lightly shake it – it’s a comical sight.
Roll up some socks into a ball – you can put a bell or a treat in the middle, this will definitely occupy a great deal of their time…
Pipes and tubes (make sure they are clean) – They’ll run through it over and over and over again…do not they ever get dizzy?!
Home Made Ferret Toys For Ferrets
Plastic bags – you barely have to do anything with this homemade ferret toy…just rattle it!
Cardboard boxes (preferably with holes cut out) – just another great dark spot for them to investigate.
A tunnel made up of cardboard boxes – they will be jumping out of their skins with delight!
Cardboard box maze – read a novel, paint your nails or read some more of my website (while supervising them)…they will probably be amused for hours!
“What’s that tickling my face? I am gonna get YOU! No, but NOW…acceptable, this time for sure… GOT YOU!!!
Attach a ball or a piece of material to some cord – Same concept as above…a quite simple homemade ferret toy to make.
Play tug a war using a sock – it’s funny how far you can pull them before they let go…tenacious little buggers!
Your slacks – on the earth or when you are setting them on…either way their fair game.
An old empty handbag –
A sealed plastic container using a treat hidden inside – They will spend hours trying to get to it!
Your auto and house keys – jingle them above their heads and watch them attempt to get them (just watch out that they don’t steel them from you, we have spent a lot of time hunting for our keys only to find them in a little ferret hidey hole!)
Place a bell or some rice in tightly sealed empty medicine bottle or jar – make certain they can’t get to what’s inside.
I like to call this game ferret football, it is so very enjoyable!
Another ferret – not only amusing for the ferret but in addition for you (however, some ferrets do not like other ferrets)
YOU – You are the best toy they can have (and the most affordable!)
